Scientific Advisor and co-founder of CycloLab. Research Director (1997–2004) then General Manager (2004–2018) of the company. At present advisory member of the board of directors and corresponding member of Hungrian Academy of Sciences.
He has PhD and D Sc degrees in organic chemistry and has extensive post-doctoral research in the application of cyclodextrins in drug delivery and applied supramolecular chemistry. He was visiting scientist at the Macromolecular Chemistry Section of National Institute of Health in USA. He is a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of International Cyclodextrin Symposia, country representative of International Carbohydrate Organisation (till 2018) and member of the Organic and Biomolecular Chemistry section of Hungarian Academy of Sciences. He has participated in several national and international research projects and supervised a number of graduating students. He was editor of Cyclodextrin News and has published over 280 papers in peer-reviewed scientific journals, 10 book chapters, two books, and 100 presentations at international symposia. Lajos Szente is inventor of over 55 patents/patent applications. The total number of citations of his publications is over 8900, Hirsch-index 50 (Google Scholar).
