2-O-monopropargyl-βCD

News 5 September, 2018
Cyclolab introduced this compound to its product list, as we think this could be a really useful tool for those interested in further modification of CDs and creation of really unique compounds.
This BCD derivative with a single propargyl unit on the secondary side (exclusive modification/substitution on O2) is a fundamental building block for cycloaddition reaction. The compound has been used for building-up CD-based dimers through secondary face (β-Cyclodextrin Dimers Linked through Their Secondary Faces with Rigid Spacer Arms as Hosts for Bile Salts, Langmuir, 2011, 27 (16), pp 9729–9737) and as starting material for constructing CD-based photoresponsive material such as CD modified on the secondary side with a single azobenzene moiety, (Synthesis of a β-cyclodextrin derivative bearing an azobenzene group on the secondary face, Tetrahedron Letters, 2008, 49 (48), pp 6778-6780). Uses for engineering redox-sensors conjugates towards bile salts has also been reported. (Ferrocene-beta-cyclodextrin conjugates: synthesis, supramolecular behavior, and use as electrochemical sensors, Chemistry, 2009, 15 (33), 8146-8162)
